The Inclusive Education Initiative (IEI) is a multi-donor trust fund supporting WB teams in Nepal, Ethiopia, and Rwanda to promote the education of children with disabilities. The IEI recently launched an Issues Paper on COVID-19 and learners with disabilities, Pivoting to Inclusion: Leveraging Lessons from the COVID-19 Crisis for Learners with Disabilities. The report highlights the barriers and challenges children with disabilities face, including their families, and teachers during the pandemic and sets recommendations to ensure building back inclusive, resilient systems. It takes a holistic social inclusion approach to the inclusion of children with disabilities to ensure they are not left behind in the pandemic response. The report was launched via a global seminar this past July.
